Inspiring Change

Hi, I’m Ryan.

Hi, I’m Ryan, a 51 year old personal trainer with over 14 years experience, 10,000+ hours of client training and I have a long standing passion for all aspects of the health and fitness lifestyle.

  • My journey to becoming a fitness professional has taken many turns over the years. It all started when I was 4 or 5 and my parents wanted me to focus my energy on something more constructive (and somewhat safer) than running around and playing on building sites, so they sent me off to my local gymnasium which just happened to be run by British Olympic Association Gymnastic Coaches at the Benjamin Britten High School, Lowestoft.

We subsequently moved from the area and my horizons broadened to the point where tennis served up (pun intended) my next interest in sport. Whilst in my teens I was coached by Mrs Berry Moffat, a former tennis coach responsible for identifying and developing talented individuals such as former British Number one Sue Barker. During this period I took part in various competitions in my teens and continued to pursue my passion by competing in league doubles competitions in the Exeter area over the following years.

My younger Days, before personal training
My family out and about, not training at home. Go for a walk as you don't always need a trainer with you.
  • My working life however was initially office bound but it was during this period that I discovered I enjoyed and was good at training people. Travelling the length and breadth of the country training people as a Business Analyst I then thought why shouldn’t I combine my passion for sport with training and made the decision to study as a personal trainer whilst working full time and raising a family.

I feel that last aspect is pretty key to what I can offer you as a personal trainer as I understand that we all have busy lives, we have families to bring up (my lovely Emma & young Charlie), jobs to maintain and most importantly a life to enjoy. With the experience and understanding I have gained I can empathise with clients from all backgrounds and walks of life. It’s this down to earth attitude and interest in improving people’s lifestyles and body condition which has led me to what I regard, as my calling in life as a personal trainer and lifestyle consultant.

  • I’ve trained a large variety of people during my time as a Personal Trainer (& coincidentally prior to this when I was a Business Analyst). People from all walks of life.

Some of these clients & subsequent friends include -

Regular gym goers seeking advice on strength, hypertrophy, body composition & general health.

5 year olds with dyspraxia through to 85 year olds needing assistance with strength, stability, mobility and help overcoming 90% paralysis on one side of their body.

Young adults coping with cerebral palsy, wishing to control & strengthen their muscles.

Mums, Dads & Grandparents who initially felt they wouldn’t have the time to train or address their nutritional & day to day lifestyle habits.

Athletes who have represented their country & won medals on the world stage in Judo, on to marathon runners who have progressed so much they’ve finished in the top 3 in Britain in their age category at the London Marathon (5th in the world I hasten to add).
